Licensing Agreement

For software developers who want to use the weather data from Standard 169-2013 or Standard 169-2021, ASHRAE offers a license for a fee of $2,000. The agreement is subject to the conditions listed below. To request a license, complete the form below and e-mail it to licensing@ashrae.org. Upon receipt of the agreement, ASHRAE will send an invoice to you. The licensing fee does not include the Standard, which can be purchased through the ASHRAE Bookstore.

Conditions of Use:

1.1 The ASHRAE copyright will be clearly shown on the product along with the following attribution: "©2021 ASHRAE, www.ashrae.org. Used with permission.".

1.2 The software must specifically reference the ASHRAE Standard 169-2013 or 169-2021 Climatic Data for Building Design Standards.

1.3 Use of any portion of ASHRAE publications or products on the World Wide Web is not permitted without express written permission from ASHRAE. Additional license fees may apply.

1.4 Payment of a $2,000 license fee to ASHRAE for a non-exclusive license to use weather data included with ASHRAE Standard 169-2013 or 169-2021.

1.5 ASHRAE ownership of the data must be noted in the software along with appropriate disclaimers affording protection to ASHRAE from use of the company’s software.

1.6 Upon receipt by ASHRAE of an executed copy of this agreement and payment of the license fee, this license will become effective.

The program and data are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the program and data is with you. In no event will ASHRAE be liable to you for any damages, including without limitation any lost profits, lost savings, or other incidental or consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use this program or data.
